Geometric Lace 5

My fifth Geometric Lace design – Headed to North Carolina to decorate a red, pink, and green nursery!

I drew inspiration for my first few hexies from my Sew, Ray, Me bag – Rachael does a fabulous job and I bought a bounty of goodies from her to hold projects, notions, hooks, and anything else that I fancy! Although these are “complete” motifs, I will still be joining as I go. These hexes will be absorbed by the adjacent ones – I just wanted to get a feel for the color palette.

Here is day one of the blanket – I decided to start from the center and work out. I knew I wanted red, green, pink, and blue in the four corners, so I chose some natural blends to go in between – for example, red plus green equals brown, so I put a few tans in there..

These motifs are one round larger than my last few Geo Lace blankets because the simple color blends allowed me to work in a larger “pixel size” – if that makes sense.

My border is a soft white with just a touch of pink that really can only be picked up in person.

A dainty lace tops it off! Each time that I have done this blanket, I have made a different lace. It really is simple to come up with once you get the general principle of defining the lace repeat. I love the border. The soft white does not detract from the pastel, bright, and dark mix of colors.This one may be my favorite yet!
