If you’d have asked me if I would have sold a lot of these when I made the first one, I’d have called you crazy! I made the original magic carpet for a photographer to use as a photo prop, size 14×26″. A little over a year later, and I have gotten orders for 9 blankets, ranging from the miniature size, all the way up to 40×60″! With the five that got scooped up this holiday season, I’ll definitely be making some extras to have on hand.

Above, you can see all four of the minis getting started up – how much fun was it making these assembly-line style? I did end up having some fun with the colors and changing things up a bit with some different shades of blue.

It’s a rare treat to work with a metallic gold, and I relish every moment – especially the tassels!

Here’s a close-up of those gorgeous tassels. In this version, I used two shades of gold and it added some great depth.

Any my final magic carpet of the year! These are seriously a blast and you can work one up in a couple of days. Check out the tutorial and make one yourself!

  1. Hello, thank you so much for sharing; this is an awesome concept and beautiful “rug”!! Would you please mind sharing how you made the post stitch (if that’s what it is) in the burgundy color? That is such a beautiful touch! Thank you again!

  2. I absolutely love this! I’m getting the Aladdin movie, Aladdin doll, and Jasmine doll for my daughter for we birthday next month. This would go perfect with the dolls. Do you have a pattern written up for it on etsy or somewhere else? I really really want to make one 😀

    1. Eek! Unfortunately, I only have the very limited tutorial guide that’s on this site.. I know it’s not a lot, but if you have questions I can help!
      Good luck!

      1. Well I don’t feel like I’m a beginner at crocheting but I’m not advanced either lol. Iv just been looking at you pictures and I’m hoping I might be able to wing it 🙂 the parts I’m having the hardest time understanding are the four corners around the center granny square part.

    1. Ready to ship? No, right now everything I make is custom order. But, of course I can make this in any size! I think of a throw as about 38×55″? That example spec would be $140, and if you’d like a different spec quote, let me know!

      Thank you,
      Rachele C.

  3. That sounds like a good size. Do you think you could have it done by christmas? And how would I go about ordering/paying for it?

    1. Oh, wonderful! I took a little extra artistic license, so I hoped you’d still like it! A feedback on my Etsy account would be so appreciated if it isn’t too much trouble. I also shop on Etsy, and I definitely check the feedback before I buy! 🙂 Thank you again; it was really fun to make.
      Have a relaxing holiday,
      Rachele C. Xx
